The SAVE YOUR SPACE petition was
created by The Friends of MySpace*, a social networking
advocacy organization based in Orange County, California, in
response to bill HR 5319 submitted by U.S. Representative Michael
Fitzpatrick in mid-2006. The petition benefits all users and
operators of social networking, blogging and chat room sites. What
started out as a simple petition created by one user group has
turned into a movement supported by a coalition of organizations
and individuals fighting for your rights to access and express
yourself on the Internet.
We invite any
organization to join the SAVE YOUR SPACE coalition
and ask for help in telling the
media, the U.S. government and the public about the importance of
social networking, blogging and chat room sites.
Since the petition
started, we have been supported by hundreds of individuals who
believe in your rights to access and express yourself on the
Internet. We are asking that all users of social networking,
blogging and chat room sites sign
this petition, not just those that use
MySpace.com.
This is an issue that affects everyone.
